Poetic Reflection on a Baha’i Sacred Writing
O Oppressors on Earth! Withdraw your hands from tyranny, for I have pledged Myself not to forgive any man’s injustice. This is My covenant which I have irrevocably decreed in the preserved tablet and sealed it with My seal of glory. ~ Bahá’u’lláh via April 16.
Uncover this stone And study his tears, Until you capture the message Inscribed in them. Notice how they tremble To the rhythm Of your expectant hands, From whence he is daily acquainted With the despair That has become as intimate As his shadow.
Know that the time has come For the requital Of so many messages Forcefully silenced Upon their very dispatch. Know that his abased countenance Will still reflect the radiance Of the Covenant That will shatter this stone Of perpetual immobility, Causing every other stone To crumble in turn,
Until the scaffold of injustice falls And the seeds of humanity’s redemption Are planted and nurtured By unshackled hands.
